[QCLUG] Missing "Star"t in the lower left corner of the screen

I am just experimenting with Mandriva 2007 right now
and my son somehow has managed to make his Star icon
in the lower left corner (access to the programs menu)
disappear. How do I make this reappear, and also, how
did he accomplish this? Thank you in advance.
