I have an old IBM ThinkPad I was using for my wife's computer, then
the monitor died, then the HD went.  For a year or so it had Gentoo
humming along just fine on it.  I think it was using a netgear card.
The whole notebook is just collecting dust now, but IIRC, it did have
fairly reasonable amount of RAM in it (1/2G I think).  Perhaps you
might be interested in parting it out as well?
