Hola,
I've used WPA_supplicant for a while now on my HP DV8315nr laptop.
Software works great as long as your card is among the list of supported
ones. In my case, I had to use NDISWrapper in combination with
supplicant in order for the card to work properly under Slackware 11.
Once the driver had been loaded and wlan0 was properly identified, I was
able to use WEP and WPA, but not WPA2. To make up for the lousy
security of WPA and WEP, I'd suggest that you use MAC address filters on
the router/gateway to prevent anyone with enough skill to get your
passphrase from having a REALLY easy in for your network.
