[QCLUG] Command restrictions

I'm trying to execute the following command (from the directory where the
file is):
mount d2-inst.iso /home/jhall/cdrom -o loop

Bash returns this:
mount: only root can do that

I've made this user (me) part of the root group; didn't help.

What am I missing or doing wrong?
