[QCLUG] SuSE 10.2 on notebox, new setup

Hello Lug,

I recv'd a notebook with SuSE 10.2.  Works oK.  But the speakers emit  
no sound.

The card is active.  And the web, audio CD seem to wind up as active.   
In previous experience, if the sound card is not active, a warning  
message is evident.  I don't have that in this case.

I don't even get the system "beeps" on startup, shutdown.

What "toggle" do I need to throw?  (No, I have tried the mute  
buttons.)  Is there something in the BIOS?  This is a new setup and I  
have not gone messing with the BIOS, yet.
