Sound (in SuSE) problems usually are at the config stage. You can usually go
to Yast and re-run the sound card detection and see what it does. Also, the
volumn and PCM will almost always need adjustment. (PCM especially). On
occasion with older versions of SuSE I have run into sound card conflicts.
These usually will dissapear by removing the sound card (software remove via
Yast) - rebooting, and then running Yast and letting if find the card again.
The reboot works best for me when during the reboot process, I go to the bios
and select the "reset configuration" or some such thing in the bios. This is
found in the section that discussed whether or not you have a PnP aware
operating system.
