We live in Davenport and have Qwest native DSL ($15/mo.), plus
independent ISP for another $15/mo. We do very little downloads/uploads
from home, mostly e-mail & Internet searches, and VPN for off-hours
support for work. Another option is to have no ISP, just the DSL; if
interested in that I can send more info recently received from another
QCLUG-er.

We use Mediacom cable, but only for cable access, nothing else. We once
had Mediacom cable internet service, but their install almost wrecked
our system, and we junked it soon after - it was a bear to remove it
from our system.

Subject: [QCLUG] Residential Internet Options?

Hello QCLUGs

I am in the process of going after DSL service at our newly built house
in Bettendorf. I am finding out that I really do not have alot of
options. With our family having Dish Network, Qwest seems to be the only
low cost option (1.5Mbps@$26.99/mo <mailto:1.5Mbps@$26.99/mo> or
7Mbps@36.99/mo <mailto:7Mbps@36.99/mo> ) with phone service.

Are there any other people out there that have gone through the same
situation of having satalite Tv? If any of you know of other options
and/or gotchas with Qwest. I am staying with various distros...Ubuntu on
the machine with Windows (to suffice Qwest...only for setup of DSL with
Windows Live...I don't want to if I don't have to).

Thanks

Brian
