can your wireless card be upgraded / switched mini-pci , pcmcia ??? ebay
and intel can be helpfull plus you have to sell your card somewhere. what
card/chipset do you have? beryl has been replaced for compiz-fusion (
merging of beryl and compiz, its installed by default in ubuntu 7.10 )
ubuntu 7.10 also supports ntfs write on drives . in the long run its cheaper
to upgrade the card an intel 2200 3945 card should be had pretty cheap.
ndiswrapper may not work forever.
