[QCLUG] Mandriva 2008

lsmod --  will list kernel modules loaded
cat /proc/asound/cards -- will list what sound card is being detected
/proc/asound/card0 -- this directory carries details about the card
alsactl -v -- displays version of alsa
alsamixer --press F2 to display /proc information
cat /proc/asound/version -- another way to see the alsa information

compare what ubuntu loads with what mandriva loads maybe you just need to
load it or set a certain feature in a software mixer.

hmm you know maybe in mandriva the modules just needs to be loaded
in mandriva launch kinfocenter and check what it says for sound card ( you
can also check with the above tools too )

( like my laptop has an ati chipset with ati sound its loaded and works but
the switch for the amp works in reverse so you have to uncheck the external
amp button in the mixer window)

another thing to get for more help would be an lspci and lspci -vvv ( just
copy paste the sound card info related to that )
