Hi Everyone, First I would like to thank the people that sent me e-mail to
help me set up my hard drives. Your instructions worked great so now I am a
Very Happy Penguin :-) . I have Kubuntu set up and it seems to be working
Great.

I would like to backup my entire system (or at least as much of it as I can)
so that I don't have to go through setting up everyting again. It took me
days. I wanted to use ARC but when I tried to do so it wouldn't let me write
to the hard drive. I was trying to write to my "backup" drive which I am
the "owner" of. It wouldn't let me. The error message indicated that I
don't have permission to write to that drive. So, I tried it via a terminal
and used "sudo arc" and had the same problem. So I logged in as "root" (yes,
I know I should never do that but I had to find out if that was the problem)
and I got the same message. I have also tried PVBackPack, File-Roller and
KArchiver. Same with all of them. I did get "Keep" to work but I don't
really care for it. Does anyone have any idea why I'm having a problem? I
would think all of them should be able to write to a disk other than the
system disk. I'm reading the book and may have to try a command line if I
get desperate :-)

Second question is what directories should I backup so if something goes Very
Wrong I could just load the base system and then copy over the backup files
and have everything back to where it was when I made the files? I will
handle my data, which is on a different drive, as a separate issue and that
shouldn't be hard.

Thank's for the help.
Bob Jones

P.S. I'm now using Kubuntu for Everything except my Serif software and once I
learn Gimp and some of the others that may be a thing of the past also.
