Supported by some members of QCLUG & QCMUG. We refurbish donated computers to pass on to those in need. I can't afford the rent anymore and must clear by the end of the month. What is left in there is a lot of older Mac hardware. If anyone has any interest in this kind of thing, let me know and I'll arrange to meet you there. You can have anything you want (except the shelves and a few things I was advised to keep). The last week of the month whatever is left goes to the recycler. If you have a Window$ box you should know about it. It says it is from UPS and that you have a package waiting for delivery but the address is wrong. All you have to do is click on the attached file and you will be able to enter the correct address. The funny thing is it is written in German so I had to have my wife read it to me. Anyway, I contacted UPS to let them know something was being sent out from Germany with their name on it. I figured it was either a virus or trying to steal my personal information. UPS told me they had just been alerted today that it was going around and they told me it is a virus. I hope this helps keep your computer safe. It works great in ubuntu! I'm able to use the compositing effects and 3d games. Works great for wine, too. I would defiently reccomend this, especially since most of these older cards are below $100. Nvidia, in my experience, has better linux support. Even the dual-head setup was easy with nvidia-settings (installable with apt-get). Good Luck! p.s. as for the 8600GT, I doubt you will have any issues with that card; its the drivers that really matter in linux, and nvidia's [binary blob] works very well.
