Thanks for the suggestions. I am assuming Steve Langasek is part
of the mailing list I am not yet familiar with everyone. Steve if you
are willing to take part in our Technology Showcase on March 19th I
would love to have you around. We have a few more slots open for
presentations during the day if you are interested in taking 1 or 2
throughout the day to discuss the philosophy of linux, maybe discuss a
bit about open software in general I think it would be a great
addition. If interested in sticking around the showcase throughout
the day It would be nice to have 1 or 2 more individuals that can be
at the table to do some demos and answer questions.
Jim, are you interested in just getting involved in presentations
or can I convince you to take a part in the booth. At the LUG I would
like to be able to show off a couple linux based projects (mythtv, and
your etch) that people have put together. In addition to a couple
general purpose machines. I can even provide a couple machines
(Optiplex gx270/gx280) that you guys can configure as needed. You can
use the machines to demonstrate how easy it is to install linux at the
start of the day, if you don't want to prepare it prior to the day of
the showcase. I would like to see atleast one machine set up with
Compiz so we can demonstrate some of the special effects that are
available.
We can use this as a mini Linux Demo Day. Anyone interested in
bringing pamphlets, reference sheets or burning cd's to give out
during the day are more then welcome to. Heck, if anyone can bring
some ISO's of the current linux versions we can burn the cd's at the
showcase. IT can provide a spindle of cd's and a sharpie for the day.
Feel free to use your distro flavors of choice for the demos.
Contact me if you are interested in getting involved.
I would prefer it if you contact me directly, or atleast cc my email
directly so your email is not over looked since the showcase is coming
up quickly.
I can be contacted by phone through the SAU IT Service desk
(563.333.6368) or email at my posting address.
For those interested in getting involved please send me your name,
contact info, and how you would like to participate.
Thanks,
- Derek
